Shopping in Klang Valley

With such a diverse range of shopping malls in Klang Valley, it should go without saying that this is a country that is taking retail therapy seriously. Our list of the best shopping malls in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor includes complexes that house major box stores, high-street chains, independent labels, small boutiques, and some also host weekly street markets on site. Each mall has a collection of different outlets, resulting in a different environment at each location, making Klang Valley a very varied shopping experience.

Pavilion Kuala Lumpur

This has to be one of Malaysia’s pioneering malls to come up with an innovative design. With a colossal Egyptian-inspired sphinx standing watch at the entry, a grand pyramid-shaped main complex, pseudo-hieroglyphs decorating the outer façade and several false pharaoh statues. This crowd magnet is favoured among the large residential, commercial and educational population around Bandar Sunway, as well as tourists from across the world.

KLCC

The shopping centre, opened in May 1998, was planned as part of the Kuala Lumpur City Center (KLCC) scheme, which was built at the foot of the Petronas Twin Towers. The mall presents views of KLCC Park and Lake Symphony. The floor plan of the mall is shaped Cresent, featuring its three-level exit wings to Jalan Ampang, Jalan P. Ramlee and Persiaran Petronas, where it is specifically measured in the lobby. The complex features an art museum, as well as shopping areas, and the Petrosains Research Discovery Centre.

Mid Valley Megamall

Mid Valley Megamall is a shopping mall located in Mid Valley District, Kuala Lumpur. It remains at the doorstep of Petaling Jaya and Kuala Lumpur. The complex was designed by IGB Corporation and opened in 1999. This comprises a shopping centre, a block of office houses, 30 businesses and three hotels. Partly because of the number of stores and the range available, the mall draws massive crowds all year long.

Paradigm Mall

One of the many shopping malls in Selangor, Paradigm Mall is easily accessible. Located about 30 minutes from the city centre of KL (along the Lebuhraya Damansara Puchong (LDP) highway), it has more than 100 designer brands– many of which have spacious, upscale stores – as well as home furnishing stores. The design is very similar to the Golden Triangle malls (like Pavilion KL and Suria KLCC), but that's where the similarity stops.

The Curve

Shopaholics will rejoice staying atT the Sunway Clio Hotel. This polished hotel is linked to the vast Egyptian styled Sunway Pyramid Mall, a 12-minute walk from Sunway Lagoon Theme Park and 3 km from the nearest metro station.
